Section 1 Overview
The Jamaica Squadron was set up so like minded mature players could get together and have fun and make friends. We are not a strict society, but do need some minor regulations to make sure we are all on same page. Please read through the regulations closely.
Section 2 The NO-NO List
1. Putting down fellow society members or any members of the potbs community in public. We will not stand for any of our members to bash, criticize, or belittle any member of the potbs community on a public area. Not everyone gets along and people will have problems, but those problems are meant to be kept behind closed doors. If you have a problem with any society member, please feel free to come to any officer and tell us. We will be fair and do what we can to fix the problem. Nothing will give a society a bad name quicker then bashing forum post, and yelling matches in public chats.
2. Stealing or cheating any member of the potbs community. Anyone caught in purposeful cheating or stealing of any member of the game will be automatically removed from group. This is common sense, be a upstanding player.
3. Inappropriate language in public. There are a lot of children that play this game, and a lot of us have children that like to be with us when we play. We do not condone swearing in any way on public chat channels. We know there is a filer but is still more respectful not to even test them out. Also on any voice comms we use, we refrain from swearing when possible. Trust me we understand there will be times a word flies out when 6 pirates jump you lol but please try and control it. If everyone on voice comms is ok with mature language then that is fine, AS LONG AS EVERYONE AGREES at that time. There are times we do not have children around and that is ok, but in general lets refrain from risking it. This also applies to the society forums as well.
4. NO LEET SPEAK. That is pretty self explanatory and with a mature society it should be a problem. I will not stand for anyone in our society tag using leet speak in chats. It is a sign of immaturity to others and gives a very bad name to the society as a whole. Again we are looking for a mature society.
Section 3 Role-playing
1. Always salute officers if you come across a society officer or a member of higher rank please give them a salute. This is just to convey respect to your fellow society members and to give the outward appearance to other players our respect.
2. Please be respectful to any members that are role-playing. Again we don’t force anyone to role-play, but if other members or other game players are, please respect that.
3. All members are strongly asked to make a bio and fill out there character information on the guild website (character tab of guild roster). This helps us know what you are planning for your characters, and it also looks very good to future members and guest of the site. The info does not need to be a novel, just some general information of your characters and such.
4. If the society hosts a role-playing event, we expect all that are involved to act appropriate. From time to time we will set up role-playing events for us and other members of the potbs world. Again we want to make a good impression.
5. When in society organized battles, all our ships shall fly the society flag. Again this shows the community our organization and our squadron’s pride. Any other time you are free to fly any other flag you chose. You are also free to use the society colors all the time, its your choice.
Section 4 Promotion and Society Ranks
Ranks
1. Admiral- Highest rank achievable in the society. Will be held by the squadron’s commanding officer. Presently not in use in the society till we grow in numbers.
2. Vice Admiral- Second highest rank in society. Will be held by either the squadron commander, or squadron executive officer based on society size.
3. Rear Admiral- Last of the admiral ranks. It is also the present rank for the squadron commanding officer. As other members move up the ranks, the commanding officer and executive officers will promote opening this position.
4. Flag Captain- Flag captain is responsible for leading separate divisions of the society. Presently is the rank of the squadron executive officer but as we grow this position will open up for any division leaders.
5. Captain- Captains always commanded the basic unit of
6. Master and Commander- In the Royal Navy a Master and Commanderoriginally was the appropriate rank for command of an unrated ship.
7. Lieutenant- A Lieutenant in the Royal Navy originally would have had command of unrated ships, including Sloops-of-War (or a Corvette, 14-20 guns), Bomb vessels (8 guns, with mortars throwing exploding shells), Gun-brigs (10-14 guns), Cutters (4-14 guns), Gun-boats (1-4 guns), and other auxiliaries
Promotion
Three things will be taken into account when we promote in the society. Listed in order of importance.
1. Willingness to help others in society and in game. We are looking for players to be there for others as much as possible without interfering you your fun of the game.
2. Activity in the society will be key. We are looking for active members that show interest in the society and its members. You do not need to be on a lot, but what time you spend with the society is quality time.
3. Level in game will be taken into account. Since we are trying to represent a historic squadron in game, ship size and level will be taken into consideration when assigning ranks.
